Why is there always one?
one who moans?
one who promotes negative thought?
and one who ignores the positive point?
There is always someone willing to moan about something, I don't know who this is, or if you attended Party on the rec, although I suspect if you had you would not be complaining as it was a great day organised by people who care about Awsworth and its residents, I joined up to help this year and I feel proud to have been what little help I was, the committee worked all year to bring this event, and to make it a success, and should be applauded not birrated.
It would seem that the promotion of negativity regarding party on the rec is a key point to the comment, and I would suggest to the author that this is pointless, as the turnout of people having a great time speaks volumes, and I would suggest that playing cricket on the outfield of the Recreation ground could cause damage also.
The positive point of Party on the rec is the bringing together of the community, and a chance to respect the area, and enjoy a party once a year together, the children love it and the adults have an opportunity to enjoy good music, good company, and great stalls in the knowledge that their children are having a great time in a safe environment.
I look forward to getting involved for many years to come in party on the rec, and I offer my congratulations to the founders and the rest of the committee, for the development of a great community event, that helps to give pride in Awsworth.

think someone should point out to old boss that the rec was gifted to the council by the coal board to be held in trust for the youth of Awsworth and not the cricket club. I was at party on the rec the ground was so hard a cat couldn't scratch it so pull the other one.
(Posted on 2010-07-13 09:50:00 by ) -
first time we have been to the party on the rec and it was fab. we are the Lindy Hoppers that performed to a few songs and would love next year to do the same but also do a small taster class to. well done!

Hello its Me the very proud Chairman of the ACA organisers of Party on the Rec I was the man that said some five years ago it is about time we did something Awsworth can be proud of i was ask by the Chairman of the CAT meeting would i try and do it.
so a group of very passionate volunteers got together and i am so proud to be their chairman and with very hard work we put on party on the rec we are now looking forward to 2011 but then we get comments from old boss i am the last person who wants to damage the "recreation ground" we spent hours before saturday litter picking and was amazed to pick 6 bin bags of rubbish I fell we left the "recreation ground" in a lot better state than we got it we can all be protective of things we are proud of.
a lot of people cannot belive that we have to work round the wicket but we do as to us damaging the outfield no one has come and said a word to us only that putting a bounce castle on the "recreation ground" has raised the water table i think we should contact Water Aid as they may be interested
now to the comment about sponsership i have checked both Ilkeston and Eastwood advertiser and no reference is made to us making a donation to Awsworth cricket club but i do recall talking to your chairman last year and telling him to request a donation from us for the youth or childrens team but as yet we have had nothing from the cricket club party on the rec is so all types of groups can get involved all of them for free and fund raise but the cricket club does not get involved, one club came to fund raise that raise nearly £100 and it look like they may get sponsored for a new kit and i will finish by saying while ever people want Party on the Rec i will fight with my committee for the people of Awsworth to continue putting it on

webmaster - I agree with you that its not the whole cricket team and i think most people will understand that but you are correct by pointing that out. I think Grunpy and Ian feel very strongly on this subject like I do and I am sure you do too, hey it also shows you lot read these as well which is very good to know so oi great work lads and lasses you did a great job last Saturday THANKS dont let one stray comment from one (I think her in doors summs it up) MUPPET get you down

Just a reminder of bad language please dont or I will have to remove your posts !!!!!!!! and on a politcal view ode boss no1 I think is only one person and may not be speaking for a collective group so can I ask reply to the person and not the group thanks

First of all i would like to congratulate the organisers of '' Party on the Rec '' and i mean REC i go all over the UK to events like this one and i will say that Party on the Rec is in the top five that i attend.
Well done to you all and i thought i would tell you, now when i came on here to ad my comments i saw the comments from ODE BOSS pull your head out your arse and look at the real world cricket is played by wanabes and twats it a village team playing on a sloping field and if you call that being looked after i think you need some lessons in ground keeping i have played on better wickets in the desert get of your but and do something with your life last time i looked it said Awsworth recreation ground Not cricket ground roll on 2011,2012,2013,2014

Ahhh whom ever you think you are !!!!!!!
One i dont hide my name but i sure do know who you are and you deff know who i am.
I will give you something to think about i was on the Rec thursday night before the main event and witnessed a serious health and saftey issue.......I watched in absolute amazement a minor of around 14 to 15 driving a moterised grass roller i also took it upon myself to video it on my iphone he was unsupervised and i shall be checking on monday morning with the dvla as to wether you has to hold a licence for such a vehicle but even so he was unsupervised......Shame on you.
He also proceeded to cut the out field in the far corner of the Rec next to the farmers hedge he ran over boulders and which damaged the practice pitch but i suppose thats down to the party on the Rec. as per bloody usual........And i asked myself why would they do this two night sbefore such a massive event with over 4500 people expected ......I dont remember the interstreet cricket being this big lol
In my eyes certain people on the cricket committee think the rec is for them and them alone hello i and thousands of others pay our parish council taxes so therefore the Rec plus Shilo belongs to the village and not a clique group of tossers who think they own the rec and Shilo.
Perharps if instead of take take taking all the time and you put something back into the Community like we do maybe locals would respect you a little more including me.
Why is it that the Band T'ake That' can go play at old trafford cricket ground in Manchester and have 100,000 + people on the wicket and the out field and you dont get some little tosser of a grounds man moaning that that out field has been damaged lol
If i had my way i would have the Lancaster bomber bomb the wicket and turn it into alotments (Better use of public facilities).
So looking forward to your grown up reply or havnt you learnt to read at school yet.
Reg. :-)

Re : ode boss no1
O M G surely you have better things to complain about? most of Awsworth Village had a fantastic day at Party on the Rec held on a public recreation ground not a cricket field, I visit the Rec several times a week and to be frank the field was alot cleaner after Party on the Rec than before. I know alot of the people who organise Party on the Rec they are a great bunch of people very approachable and i'm sure if you spoke to them with your concerns they would try and put things right. I know in previous years the groundskeeper has worked closely with Party on the Rec ensuring that the best possible care is taken with the Rec but unfortunatly that person is ill and some new muppet is running the ground and hasn't got the common decencey to offer help and advice, I thought the rec was for the public to use in any sporting or social activity obviously you want the rec to be used for cricket and drug dealing what a way to improve our local area and bring people together
sorry you don't no how to enjoy life it is very sort you no
(Posted on 2010-07-10 18:24:00 by ) -
I agree with Matt, it's a rec not a cricket pitch, hours are spent clearing up after Party on the rec, it's a once a year event - get a life!
(Posted on 2010-07-10 18:07:00 by ) -
ode boss no.1 - I have just rushed out a fetched the Ilkeston Advertiser and the Eastwood and Kimberley Advertiser and have read both papers and nowhere does it say as you have stated that the ACA are giving the AVCC a penny, it says that there is money for community groups but does not name any one group. I live in the village and the last time I saw the sign at the entrance to the grounds Im sure it says something like Awsworth Recreation Ground and not Awsworth Village Cricket Ground. Before the party on the rec I visited the RECREATION GROUND and did take note that some fool had cut a load of wickets all over the out field surley that has not done the grass any favours and in addition to that there was many large patches of soil with no grass to be seen (bottom left of grounds) suppose this is areas where you have cut for training thus damaging the outfield as I have never seen this anywhere else. Yes I went to Party on the Rec and what a great time thousands of people had, I wonder if you went I suppose not I suppose you sat in your sad little house weeping into your cup of tea. Get out get a life get involved?
(Posted on 2010-07-10 18:06:00 by ) -
ode boss: the rec isnt just about you and your cricket, if they're that bothered they should go play cricket somewhere else, you sound selfish, boring and mardy. Its not like its a weekly event. Also, the grass is wrecked anyway because we havent had any rain so dont try and play that card, it is a recreation ground not a cricket ground. If the work they do is unpaid and they are unhappy tell them to quit. The majority of Awsworth and surrounding areas had a good night and lots of funds were raised for various things so take ur negative moaning comments elsewhere because nobody wants to hear it.
(Posted on 2010-07-09 20:09:00 by ) -
Thanks once again for wrecking the cricket outfield i dont think the commitee realise people put hardwork into the rec all year round(unpaid) and party on the rec makes there job harder. I also read in the Eastwood and Kimberley Advertiser that ACA were donating money to AVCC and i have never heard n more of this.

I've past the banners advertising this as I've gone by in my car, I've looked on the internet, all but for one site (http://www.ukvillages.co.uk/Content/Show/38573/Party+on+the+Rec+Awsworth+3rd+July+2010) I can't find any info, When/what are start & finish times??
Itinery??
Who/What is on??
Important things that I need to know whats on to decide whether its worth going to.
This site needs to have that info on, (excuse me if I've looked and missed it), it needs to be up here, in your face, What is Party on the Rec??? is it worth going to???

You know who i am but in my defence with the site i have a full time job....Single parent ..... a house to maintain and give 110% to bring you Party on the rec.
So I suggest if you can put some time in on here and help out instead of wasting your time and energy to mouth off at what your not happy with and maybe give us a hand..... Thought not !!!!!!!!!
I rest my case

What a great time we all had. It was a shame it clashed with another show so we was down on numbers but those of us who did attend are already spreading the word and are looking forward to next year. One of the most relaxing events we have ever been to. Bands were superb and a great firework display to finish.

What a fab day! Thanks to all of the hardworking people that arranged it all and ensure it's continuence. Realy liked the fact that the stewards kept the bins emptied all day so there was no rubbish laying around. bands were first class.

Party On The Rec Was AMAZING I Really Enjoyed My Self =) The Entertainment Was Brill. The Only Bad Thing I Would Say Would Be Toilets. Thanks For Making It A Good Day For Us All And I Can't Wait For Next Year =)

What a fantastic day!!! as it was for the previous 2 years!! well done to all involved!! the kids loved it and so did the adults. as for the toilet situation, i personally didnt see much of a problem, think the queues were mainly for the mens and not the womens, makes a change thats what i say!!! cant wait for Party on the Rec 2010!!!
(Posted on 2009-07-07 13:04:00 by ) -
I think it was a fantastic day and i really enjoyed it, i think the ACA made a great effort, its a shame about negative comments, prehaps they could join the ACA and lend a hand as what people fail to remember is that everyone on the committe has full time jobs, children and pets! and they manage to organise all of that with just a few members! and no other support in the village apart from a few locals who always attend fundraisers!
(Posted on 2009-07-06 18:23:00 by ) -
Thank you guys for your comments if they are negative or positive it all helps us the committee get it right for future events......Personally i think we were a victim of our own success.........Parking has now become an issue as some have pointed out the toilets were not sufficient for the crowds of people that turned out on the day and night.
Please rest assured folks we value your input but we will get it right.
Thanks again to you all for supporting a fantastic day it makes all the winter months fund raising and hard work all worth while.
(Posted on 2009-07-05 19:14:00 by ) -
what another fantastic day from start to finish, we would like to say a big thank you and you organisers should be proud , as for the toilet situation this was just a blip that im sure you will correct next year, no pleasing some folk hey kurt?? thank u thanku bloody brill x

(Posted on 2009-07-05 12:47:00 by ) -
Hi there,
We had a great time yesterday at party on the rec, the bands were great and the beer was flowing!!
However, I was disapointed with a couple of things, firstly when we arrived the trampolines were gone, and this was upsetting for the kids as they really enjoyed it last year, and I believe that we arrived at the same sort of time. The main issue I had with the event though was shared by everbody I spoke to, and that was the toilet facilities, and idiotic policing of people having a wee in the bushes, I mean this is an outdoor event so therefore more effort needs to be taken to ensure people dont have to queue for 15 minutes to relieve themselves, I have been to far larger scale festivals, catering for tens of thousands and have never had to wait so long for a wee!!
On the whole a really good day though!!
